Charlie Drevstam is based in Stockholm. Studio in Stockholm and Skåne (south part of Sweden). His mainly work is in the field of food, interior and in still life. His works can be seen in books, magazine and ads.
After school he studied at the elemental art school in Stockholm. But the painting and sculpture took to long time, the camera was faster. In 1984 at the age of 19 he traveled from Moscow to Beijing with the Transiberien Railway, stayed in China for nearly three months and photographed the street scene. Back in Stockholm he showed the pictures at Carl Butlers restaurant, some of the pictures of dead dogs had to be taken down from the wall after complainant guests.
During 1985 he worked as an assistant to swedish photographer Christer Strömholm.
In the 1990 he did documentary stories and portrait for magazines. His first book came out 1995 “1969 1977 1994. 72 porträtt av en svårfångad generation / 72 portrait of a generation”. The exhibition was shown at Kulturhuset Sthlm, Norrköping and Malmö.
2004 he started work with documentary film besides the still photographing. In 2012 he directed his first documentary “Geniet från Flen”. A film about the legendary swedish portrait photographer Hans Gedda.
